The students at Cornerstone in grades 6-12 are welcome and invited to participate in the church through the youth ministry. There are many ways to connect, serve, and participate in the church and community we are a part of. If you are a student or parent who is looking for more information or would like to get involved there are a few ways to get connected and find out information. And if you're reading this, you're in the right place. Below is a brief description of ways to connect, and please know that if you have any questions about any of the events, groups, or ways to get involved, don't hesitate to contact me (Josh Hayden, Youth Pastor). We hope that you will be able to join us soon!

Ways To Connect:

Small Groups

Small groups are pockets of students broken up by gender and grade brackets to help students connect with one another on deep levels. They will have fun together, learn how to serve together, develop and foster friendships, and pick up on some of the tools of faith that will help them along the journey of life. They operate as our primary way of fellowship, Bible study, connection, and life together in our youth ministry. Currently we have these small group meetings, and if you'd like to find out more details please contact the small group leader (or Josh Hayden):

  • High School Girls- Sundays, 6-7:30 p.m. at The Loft with Lauren Poole (540.359.5289)
  • Middle School Girls- Sundays, 5-6 p.m. @ The Loft with Michele Burwitz (540.428.4322)
  • High School Boys- Sundays, 6-7:30 p.m.@ the church office with Josh Hayden (540.270.4059)
  • Middle School Boys- Sundays, 5-6 p.m. @ the church office with Josh Hayden (540.270.4059)

Service

There are plenty of ways students can serve and be a part of the church at Cornerstone. We believe that developing a desire and heart to serve is essential, and becomes one of the marks of Christian development and love. In our emphasis on service we seek to emulate the life and love of Christ who served and loved all people. We believe and hope that as we participate in service to others we too will be changed into a greater reflection of Jesus, both as individuals and a community.

  • Community Touch- small groups and all youth are invited to serve on the 4th Saturday of each month. Usually from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. (Please check calendar on the website for event details for that month!) Community Touch (click on name to visit the website) is a clothing closet, food pantry, transitional housing, and furniture resource that gives its resources away to those in need in our local community. We help organize their resources, move furniture, do landscaping, and various other jobs to help them serve the community. • Sunday mornings- 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There are plenty of ways the youth can get involved on Sunday mornings to help out with set-up, the Audio/Visual team, children's ministry and nursery, clean-up after church, and more. This is a great way for youth and parents to work together, and for youth to develop some great service skills. Contact: Josh Hayden (540.270.4059, joshuarhayden@gmail.com )
  • Small Group- small groups will find ways to work together and serve both each other within the group and also the church and community at large.

Activities

The youth are often participating in a variety of activities in small groups, and often the small groups will get together to do something fun, go on a retreat, join for a service project, or just hang out. These are often planned for group-wide activities, but small groups will have some spontaneous activities as well. Stay tuned and look for updates and events on the calendar for ways to hang out and get involved through an activity with the youth. If you have a suggestion or want more information on any activity that the youth are doing, please contact: Josh Hayden (540.270.4059, joshuarhayden@gmail.com)
