These are often planned for group-wide activities, but small groups will have some spontaneous activities as well. Mike Dove has generously donated numerous hours to the maintenance and upkeep of the truck over the last six months, and has saved the church hundreds of dollars in the process. However, since early January, the truck has developed a problem with the engine that is of a more serious nature. This has rendered the truck inoperable. Over the past few Sundays, various members of the church have graciously filled in to pull the trailer with their own vehicles. The larger van would help to accommodate our growing youth group as well. The Council has determined that a van with a maximum of 70,000 to 80,000 miles would serve us well as we don't anticipate putting on more than 10,000 miles per year. Since this expense was not anticipated, this year's budget does not include monies to cover this purchase. Therefore, the council recommends setting up a van fund for folks to give to, over and above giving to the general fund, to underwrite the cost of the van.
