About God
There is only one true living God who is creator and ruler of the universe. He is spirit and has eternally existed in three persons (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). He is holy, loving, merciful and good. (Deut 6:4; Gen. 1:1-3, 26-31; Psalm 59:17; Luke 18:19; 1 Tim 22:37-38)
About Jesus
He is the eternal Son of God and co-equal with the Father. He is co-equal with the Father and was miraculously conceived and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of all human beings. He rose from the dead to demonstrate his power over sin and death and appeared and was recognized by his disciples and over 500 witnesses. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, but will return someday to rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (John 1:1; Gen. 1:1; Matt 1:18-2:23; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Pet 3:18)
About the Holy Spirit
He is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He exists to enable human beings to understand truth and their personal need for Jesus Christ. Upon acceptance of who Christ is, the Holy Spirit comes to live in every believer, giving them a spiritual gift(s) and empowering them to do the will of God. (Rom 15:30; 2 Pet 1:20-21; John 14:26; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor 6:19; John16:7-14)
About the Bible
Written by human authors, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is the source of God’s truth and sole authority for faith and practice. (2 Tim 3:16-17)
About Salvation
It is a gift from God offered to all people, but each person must decide to receive it or not. This gift is the only way to salvation. We cannot earn this by human effort. It is found only when we let go of our self-ruled lives and turn to Jesus Christ in faith. (Eph 2:8-9; Acts 4:12; 1 Pet 3:18; John 3:16; Luke 9:23. Acts 2:21)
About Human Beings
We are created in the image of God which means we are spiritual beings with a soul. We were also created to have a personal relationship with God. Yet, we have chosen to go our own way, rule our own lives and as a result have broken relationship with God. This is what the Bible calls sin. We are destined to die in this state and live eternally separated from God. We are helpless in ourselves to change this state through our good works. We need to be forgiven by God for going our own way in order to have a relationship with God and to be with Him in Heaven. (Gen 1:26-31; Gen 1:31; John 3:16, Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23, Heb 9:27; Eph 2:8,9; Acts 10:43)
About the Church
There is one true universal church made up of all who acknowledge Jesus Christ as their savior. Believers are commanded by Scripture to regularly gather, to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching the Word and fellowship. The only ordinances observed are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Believers are equipped and developed to serve the needs of the body as well as reach out to the world. The local church occurs whenever God’s people meet in obedience to this command. Members are to work together in love and unity, under the watch care and guidance of the appropriate leadership, with the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ (Matt16:13-18; Acts 2:42-47; Eph 4:11-13; Rom 12:4-8; Col 1:17,18; 1 Cor 12:12-31)
